They have an incredible bond and they take care of one another so it is with great joy that we announce their adoption.
The following letter was written by one of our “Adoption Moms”.
Hello,
I am not sure if you usually like updates, but we wanted to thank you
so much for the little bundle of joy your society brought into our
lives. In the spring of 2007 my boyfriend and I were wanting to adopt
a wonderful pet. We were going to go to the SPCA but we were close to Pets Mart and thought we’d take a boo first. We saw one of your lovely volunteers sitting with by the cats and she explained to us what your rescue society was all about. I thought I would love to adopt a cat from you.
Then I picked up a big Siamese-cross whom instantly started purring
and I was in love. At the time his name was Sake, but we have since
changed his name to Fidel as we feel he suited that name a little
more. Well, he has been wonderful. Although he was 6 when we adopted him, he still plays like a kitten and loves to play fetch with a
crumpled up paper ball. I wish I knew the volunteer who was working
that days name because she was so wonderful and recommended I purchase a ‘zoom groom’ brush and to this day his favourite time of day is brushing time. Everyone who pets him loves his smooth coat.
He is now a ‘big city cat’ and lives in a condo in downtown Vancouver
with us and loves watching the cars drive by. I am not sure if you
have records of adoptions, but ‘Sake’ was de-clawed by his previous
owners so we have never let him outside. He does enjoy looking out thewindow and has his own cat tree and various different objects to play on so we don’t think he minds.
I will say our poor little pal does have asthma but we give him pills
every evening and this has reduced his attacks. We make sure we
monitor his health well by making sure he has annual vet visits where
his lungs are X-Rayed and he has some blood drawn to make sure the
medications aren’t causing his organs damaged. I am happy to say that
he seems to be doing pretty well.
I wanted to write to you because my boyfriend and I adore our ‘little
pal’ as we call him and couldn’t imagine life without him. The work
you do is so wonderful and we are very grateful for it. We hope others
like us continue to enjoy the love a little fur-ball adoption can
bring.
All the best and many thanks,
Shawna and Parker
PS: We added a couple photos so you can see our handsome devil.

LONESOME CHARLIE
In May of 2008 a beautiful long haired orange and white male cat was rescued. He was found spending his time wandering in a small community being fed by a caring couple. Unfortunately, this couple had cats of their own and didn’t have room for one more. As another winter passed the couple knew that the cat deserved a permanent home; thus, CatNAP was called. It didn’t take long for “Lonesome Charlie” to find a temporary place to go. A young couple had recently lost one of their feline friends and decided to open their home and foster ”Lonesome Charlie”. After a month, Charlie stopped hiding under the bed and his personality began to shine through. The couple quickly found out how much “Lonesome Charlie” loved to cuddle and talk! As more time passed “Lonesome Charlie’s” comfort grew, along with his “foster parents” love for him. As you probably guessed, ”Lonesome Charlie” is no longer ”Lonesome” and has found a loving, forever home. CatNAP hopes that everyone will find their “Lonesome Charlie”.
